This winged terror can be found relatively close to where you begin the game. Simply by heading over to the Dragon-Burnt Ruins in Limgrave, you’ll find Flying Dragon Agheel. You can take down Flying either solo or co-op with another player or NPC, although the latter is definitely easier. Additionally, using a spirit ash summon in the fight against this boss is allowed. On this page: Looking for some direction? Our what to do first in Elden Ring, Elden Ring walkthrough, Site of Grace locations and main bosses in order pages can help. Once you’ve made it to the Gatefront Ruins Site of Grace just south of Stormveil Castle, Melina will automatically appear to you in a short scene, and grant you the power to summon the spectral steed. Staying on the move is paramount against Flying Dragon Agheel. As you can tell by the bombastic entrance of the beast, it can crush anyone underfoot who hangs around in one place for too long, so you’ll want to keep circling the dragon atop Torrent, and basically running in for a quick swipe or ranged magic attack whenever possible. Take care not to hang around the back of Flying Dragon Agheel for too long. Staying within a few meters of the dragon’s legs will cause it to swipe its tail around, battering anyone who’s caught behind it. If you are going to get in a few attacks against Flying Dragon Agheel’s legs, we’d recommend taking three swipes, and then backing away. The entire point of surviving this fight is being patient, and not getting greedy with your attacks. Whenever Flying Dragon Agheel rises up into the air, one of two things will happen. It’ll either breathe out a column of fire which slowly reaches towards you, or come slamming down on top of you. To counteract the first one, you want to keep an eye on the column of fire, and move away from it. Don’t run parallel to the fire, because it can actually spread out really rapidly and catch you unawares. If the dragon comes slamming down top of you - which you’ll be able to tell by the fact it isn’t breathing fire after roughly two seconds in the air - you need to strafe around the dragon. Backing away from the beast when it’s plummeting down is almost guaranteed to hit you, so you stand a much better chance of avoiding the attack if you circle round it, especially on horseback. Flying Dragon Agheel doesn’t appear to be weak to any one attribute in Elden Ring, but it is worth peppering it with Glintstone Pebble attacks if you can. Staying away from the boss and pelting it with ranged attacks until you run out of FP is a perfectly viable plan of attack, because it keeps you out of harms way for as long as possible. Once you have settled on a starting class and starting Keepsake item, you should first work out how to level up, how to respec and use Ashes of War. Need some direction from there? Our Elden Ring walkthrough and Elden Ring boss order can help with where to go next, but we also recommend hunting down Golden Seeds, Sacred Tears, Crystal Tears, Talismans and some of our best weapon and best armor choices. If you are approaching the end game, we can help with the Volcano Manor quest and Rykard, Haligtree Secret Medallion locations, solving the Ordina, Liturgical Town puzzle, the Millicent quest, Commander Niall, Morgott, Godskin Duo, Maliketh and Malenia. You’ll also gain a Dragon Heart, which you can take to a glowing red statue with the Dragon Communion island to the west and exchange for a dragon-based Sorcery. Now that Flying Dragon Agheel is down, the Dragon-Burnt Ruins are a much safer place to explore. You’re not done yet with dragons though, because as you might naturally expect in a game by FromSoftware, there’s plenty more where that came from. While you are here, it’s worth grabbing the Twinblade, one of our best weapon choices for the opening hours.
