There are nine Gourd Seeds in total, and we’ve detailed their locations below for you to track the down easier and make your own life in Sekiro much easier in the process. On this page: If you’re making your way through the game it’s likely that you’ve already upgraded your Gourd a few times already, but we’ve trawled across the entire world of Sekiro: Shadows Die twice to seek out these seeds, giving you the best chance to win. After you’ve picked up a Gourd Seed, you’ll want to bring it over to Emma, who usually resides in the Dilapidated Temple (later on in the game she will move over to Kuro’s Quarters). After bringing them over to Emma, she will use up the item and upgrade your flask for you, and you’re all set to crack on again. This Gourd Seed will be dropped by the first miniboss that you will encounter in the game, General Naomori Kawarada. But first, you’ll need to get past him. Keep deflecting his attacks and watch out for his deathblows. If you’re careful, you can get one of his healthbars down with a Deathblow. Gourd Seed 2 Location: Ashina Outskirts - Outskirts Gateway While your first Gourd Seed might have been a walk in the park, this second one requires you to have defeated the Chained Ogre miniboss. Dispatch of the enemies near him, and then while he’s trying to escape. Wail on him and deal a deathblow. Then, stagger him with the Flame Vent Prosthetic. After they’re down, Grapple up to the opening in the building where you originally found the miniboss, and immediately to the left will be the next Gourd Seed. Gourd Seed 3 Location: Ashina Outskirts - Castle Gate After you have defeated Gyoubu Oniwa, you’ll first want to go up the stairs opposite the shrine that unlocks after you beat him. There, there will be a building, to the right facing the building’s entrance will be the Memorial Mob, this merchant will stock yet another Gourd Seed for 1000 sen. Simple! Gourd Seed 4 Location: Ashina Castle Right after you have defeated the Blazing Bull and gained access to Ashina Castle, go through the gates and up to the right. There, head up towards where you will find the next miniboss, however, if you drop down before you have to face them, you’ll encounter Fujioka the Info Broker. He will ask you to take down the Samurai in the area. Carefully dispatch of them and return to talk to him, he’ll thank you for your help and appear at the Dilapidated Temple. There, he will stock a Gourd Seed for 2000 Sen. Gourd Seed 5 Location: Ashina Castle After you have headed along the rooftops to the right of the first miniboss of the area, you’ll have to hook around the perimeter of the area in the air, taking out the tricky, new “Crow” mobs, eventually, you will head back around and see a grapple point up to a large building ahead. Head in and you’ll find a new shrine, and a chest. Inside this chest is the next Gourd Seed. Neato! Gourd Seed 6 Location: Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo Head towards the big building in the area and up straight to the top, there, you will find a hole over on the left. Head down the stairs and you will see an idol with an item next to it swamped by enemies. Good luck, as this encounter can be tough, but right at the foot of the idol is your next Gourd Seed. Gourd Seed 7 Location: Sunken Valley Right in the first area of the Sunken Valley at its Under Shrine Valley Idol, you will find a long grapple point that you will need to traverse across. Kill the rifleman and head inward, then look up and grapple to the second branch, another riflemen. Kill them then head up towards the ledge on the left. Head inwards, grapple over and take out the rifleman, then there is another if you grapple further across. Head immediately up from here to find an item, this is your next Gourd Seed! Gourd Seed 8 Location: Ashina Depths Near the Mibu Village Idol, head into the middle of the area next to the giant tree. Amongst its base is a litter of items, among them is the next Gourd Seed. Be careful of the littany of mobs amongst them, however! Note that there’s a 9th Gourd Seed, available late in the one of the game’s alternate endings, that we’re still just confirming - we’ll update this page once we have it!
